Lock, use left foot to move the red paddle of the spring parking brake to the right. Unlock, just step on it again.

The metal brake thingy is not designed to be the only braking mechanism when your vehicle is parked on slopes. Always take additional safety measures, such as placing chocks behind your tires, to prevent rolling.
